Chinatown Library

The urban questions must be resolved first. The construction of Chinatown Library will mediate between dense urban
space and public requirements while restoring the silent and meditation spiritual place.

Building in an area so steeped in history demands a respectful approach.
The Library will be the symbolic representation of Chinatown, reflecting both Chinese and Melbourne cultures.

The Library has light ROOFs that symbolism the identity of Chinese architecture. The light roofs would be a modern reflection of the dynamics of Chinese architecture as well.

The DOME is an important architectural symbol of the spirit of the place of Melbourne. The Supreme Court, the State Library, and the Parliament are the spiritual centres of Melbourne, whose domes are expressions of the spirit of the place.

The Chinatown Library will define the role of important cultural architecture in Chinatown, and reconcile the conflict
with urban development, allowing the Library to bring new public spaces for the citizens.

" The Library will be the symbolic representation of Chinatown, reflecting both Chinese and Melbourne cultures."
